How to organize perfect first birthday party

First year of baby’s life is a magical time. Every day brings something new, child learns new things and changes very quickly. Therefore first birthday is also a big event, not only for the jubilee, but also (or maybe primarily) for the parents. That’s why they try so much to make this day special and full of surprises.

Are your preparing first birthday party for your baby? Here are few things that you should keep in mind.

Party

Remember that the 1-year-old baby doesn’t get passing time and birthday is like every other day. Therefore the birthday party shouldn’t interfere with baby’s day routine which gives him a sense of security. Maybe instead of organizing a huge party on a swimming pool, throw a small party only for the closest friends and family members. Don’t worry, there will be plenty of time for bigger parties! :)

Birthday cake

You can buy a birthday cake in a bakery (order it at least few days earlier) or bake it on your own. If you decide to make your own cake you will be sure that among the ingredients there are no such things that can be harmful for the baby or that the child has not yet tried, like cocoa, nuts, pastry dyes etc. Birthday cake is one of the most important things. Nowadays it’s very popular to have a birthday cake that is related to baby’s liking and looks like a car, animal or fruit that baby really likes. Of course there should be also a candle that the jubilee, with parents’ help, will blow out.

Party decorations

The party can have a theme (for example child’s favorite cartoon), but that’s not necessary. You can just hang balloons, streamers and colorful ribbons.

Gifts

Every guest will want to bring a gift for the jubilee. We all know how it is difficult to choose a perfect gift, that will be useful, educational and attractive for the baby. To make it easier for our guests we can tell them we would prefer to receive money instead of gifts or prepare a wish list – thanks to it all guests will know what toys we would like to get, what size of clothes the baby wears or what baby care products he/she uses. Thanks to a wish list we will avoid problems with useless gifts or too small clothes. And our guests will be definitely grateful they don’t have to run from one store to another and spend hours on looking for a gift.

Memento

You can do few things to commemorate this day. Take some photos during the birthday party, keep a candle from the first birthday cake, make a clay footprint or handprint or take your toddler for a professional studio photo session – it will be an excellent reminder of this special day.
